International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Director Seo Yeon Lee), held the Palestine preliminary round of the 8th International Loving-Peace Art Competition on June 1 at the Jerusalem–Al-Quds Club in Jerusalem, Palestine.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Jasmen Association for Women to provide children and local community members with an opportunity to share the meaning of peace and foster mutual understanding through art and dialogue.
Under the theme “My Peace Story,” participants expressed their visions of a peaceful world and messages of hope through their artwork. The program also included discussions in which participants shared their thoughts and experiences related to peace. This peace education approach, combining art and storytelling, received positive feedback from participants and was recognized as an effective program that encouraged intergenerational dialogue and empathy.
A representative of the Jasmen Association for Women stated, “The conversations about peace and artistic activities provided participants with a positive and meaningful experience,” adding that efforts should continue to expand community participation in the future. Throughout the drawing process, participants exchanged ideas about peace, hope, and mutual understanding, demonstrating that art can serve as a powerful tool for communication that bridges generations and strengthens community bonds.
More than a simple art competition, the event served as an educational platform where children and local community members could come together to discuss peace, build empathy, and share common values.
IWPG’s International Loving-Peace Art Competition is a global peace project that encourages children and youth around the world to learn and practice the values of peace through art. Working in partnership with educational institutions and civil society organizations across various countries, the project contributes to the promotion of a culture of peace worldwide.
IWPG Global Region 2 plans to continue its collaboration with local organizations in Palestine and further expand peace education initiatives through art and education.
