IWPG Global Region 2 Completes Women’s Peace Education for 53 Women from 4 Middle Eastern Countries

Successful Completion of the 2nd Online Graduation Ceremony for the 2025 Middle East Peace Education Program

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Global Region 2 (headed by Director Seoyeon Lee), announced that it held the “2025 Middle East Women’s Peace Education Graduation Ceremony” online on June 13. A total of 53 women from four Middle Eastern countries—Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, and Libya—successfully completed the first-half peace education program and received their certificates.

The event proceeded in the following order: screening of the IWPG promotional video, congratulatory speech by Global Region 2 Director Seoyeon Lee, awarding of certificates and special awards, a speech by a representative of the graduates, viewing of the Middle East Women’s Peace Education highlight video, and a commemorative photo session.

IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education is an international education program designed to help women around the world grow as active agents of peace. The second-term course focused on empowering women in the Middle East who have experienced the pain of war and conflict.

During the ceremony, five graduates who actively participated and embodied the values of peace were recognized. The “Outstanding Peace Education Award” was presented to Heyam Saleh Bin Saleh Omar (Yemen), Fatima Balagem (Yemen), Ghalia Ali O Sasi (Libya), and Wafa'aAli Mohammad AlKurdi (Jordan). Nagla Saad (Yemen) was also awarded a certificate of appreciation.

Heyam Saleh Bin Saleh Omar expressed, “I deeply thank IWPG,” and emphasized, “In a life shattered by war, peace is no longer a choice—it is survival.” She continued, “This education, with the message ‘War and conflict—NO; A world without suffering—YES,’ changed the direction of my life. I learned that peace is a future we can build together. With the courage IWPG has given me, I will go forward as a messenger of peace.”

Director Seoyeon Lee of Global Region 2 stated, “True peace does not end with learning—it is only achieved when practiced in daily life,” and added, “I hope that each graduate’s small actions will echo greatly in the world.”

During the ceremony, IWPG also shared its upcoming plans. The third batch of Women’s Peace Education course will begin in July, and a Peace Lecturer Training Course will be offered in parallel to further support women in promoting the value of peace in their local communities.

Meanwhile, IWPG is a globally recognized women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC). With 115 branches in 122 countries and 808 partner organizations in 68 countries, IWPG pursues the vision of “achieving sustainable world peace” through activities such as expanding solidarity, spreading a culture of peace, providing peace education for women, and advocating for the legal adoption of the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).”
