"A World Without War" — IWPG Holds Peace Art Competition in Armenia

32 Students Participate, Expressing the Values of Peace and Coexistence Through Art

School–Civil Society Collaboration Lays the Foundation for Expanding Peace Education

The International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2, (Director Seo Yeon Lee), held the Armenia preliminary round of the 8th International Loving-Peace Art Competition on May 27 at N10 after Khrimyan Hayrik School in Yerevan, Armenia.

The event was organized to provide children and youth with an opportunity to learn about and express the values of peace and coexistence through art. Approximately 50 people attended, including 32 students, parents, educators, judges, and local community representatives.

Under the theme “My Peace Story,” participating students expressed their visions of a peaceful world through their artwork. Their drawings reflected messages of mutual understanding and respect, hopes for a world free from war, and images of families, friends, and communities living together in harmony.

The event was jointly organized by IWPG, DNA NGO, and N10 after Khrimyan Hayrik School. It highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and civil society in promoting peace education for future generations.

Anna Meliksetian, Director of DNA NGO, emphasized the importance of international peace education, saying, “It was a meaningful opportunity for children to freely express their thoughts and emotions while learning about the values of peace.” Naira Simonyan, Principal of N10 after Khrimyan Hayrik School, also commented, “It was very inspiring to see students express peace through art. We hope to continue expanding the program so that more students can participate in the future.”

More than a simple art competition, the event served as an educational platform where children could reflect on and express the meaning of peace and coexistence.

IWPG’s International Loving-Peace Art Competition is a global peace project that encourages children and youth around the world to learn and practice the values of peace through art. In cooperation with educational institutions and civil society organizations in various countries, the project contributes to the promotion of a culture of peace worldwide.

IWPG Global Region 2 plans to further expand its cooperation with local institutions in Armenia and continue peace education and cultural exchange programs for future generations.
